Description: S/42(Mauser) G date (1935) P08 Luger pistol. A "G date" secret code stamp on the top of the receiver to hide the production dates and quantities from the allied powers during Hitler's re-armament period during the early 1930's( in contradiction to the production restrictions set by Treaty of Versailles). From 1936 onward, Lugers were stamped with the true date instead of the code. By this date, it was obvious to the world Germany had fully rearmed and since there was still no aggressions, many were impressed by Germany's resolve after the first world war, and Germany was about to host the Olympic games, not too many people worried....yet.
